If your visiting with us for the first time from another congregation, or are new to faith, its entirely understandable to be nervous and to have questions. We love to welcome visitors at Ballygowan, and it is our hope this section will be helpful in easing any nerves or concerns.
On Sundays you can come along, take a seat, listen and leave quietly if that is what you would like. You won’t be asked to say or do anything. You don’t have to be religious or a Christian to come to Ballygowan, If you have any sort of interest at all then you are more than welcome to come and join with us.
Common Questions
WHAT TIME IS THE SERVICE?
Our morning worship on a Sunday is at 11:30am (11am in July & August) and Children's Church runs during this time.
WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?
We do not have a set dress code. People typically dress either smart/casual or casual, in jeans and a t-shirt.
WHAT CAN I EXPECT?
You can expect a warm welcome and a smile. Our service is relaxed and includes everything you would expect, with kids leaving for Children's Church after the short children's address.
WHAT HAPPENS DURING THE SERVICE?
Our service is quite traditional with a mix of hymns, a Bible reading, prayers and a sermon.
WHEN IS COMMUNION?
We celebrate communion twice a year. Communion reminds us of the Last Supper before Jesus died for us on the cross. During Communion we take bread and wine as symbols of Jesus body and blood that was shed for our sin.
WHAT ABOUT MY CHILDREN?
We have a Creche that runs during the entire service for babies and young children. Children's Church for those in P1 - P7 runs during the service year round.
IS IT ONLY A SUNDAY?
No, we have a wide range of activities running during the week.
Information on all our organisations can be found below.
WHAT'S THE MUSIC LIKE?
Our music is a mix of hymns played on the organ or piano. At certain times during the year and at some services we have a small praise group. We also have a church choir group.
